Why take a protein supplement?

Protein shake

I wanted to take a moment to explain the importance of taking a protein supplement when trying to build muscle. Firstly the keyword here is supplement! Having a protein shake shouldn't be instead of but as a great addition to help build lean muscle tissue, help muscle repair and recovery and support the body's metabolism.

Diet is so important when training, what you put into your body ultimately shows on the outside. So as well as eating a balanced diet- good carbs, lean unprocessed varied protein sources, good fats, plenty of veggies and lower sugar fruits I recommend using a good quality protein powder.

Having a multi-phase protein shake is going to drip feed the body/muscles with bcaa’s, vitamins, minerals and protein which will help the muscles perform better, help stop fatigue and help the formation of protein fibres whilst you train. After training, I like to use USN whey isolate. It's 26g of quick-release protein to aid a speedy recovery and protein synthesis.
